Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist will assist in the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, including administering benefits, leave and pay, performance review, collaborating with hiring managers on the hiring and interviewing of staff, leading and assisting in New Hire Orientation and other staff-wide trainings and enforcing company policies and practices.

 

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

 

  • Assists to develop and administer programs, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the Museum.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition and morale; and training and development.
  • Assists in the rollout and implementation of a performance management system.
  • Assists hiring managers in recruiting, interviewing and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions. Administers all company benefits, employee education and enrollment and annual benefits fair.
  • Assists with New Hire Orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Works with Director of HR to support employee appreciation and other staff engagement initiatives.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Works two weekend days per month, adjusting schedule so as to work 5 days per week.
  • Fosters a culture of diversity, equity, access and inclusion by incorporating DEAI values into all relevant processes and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Specifications: Full-time (exempt), typical schedule is Monday- Friday.  Will include two weekend days with flexible hours as needed.


Rate: $65,000 -$70,200

Job Requirements:


  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Well-developed people skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • HR Certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
